Saxony-Anhalt financially supports Jewish culture days in Magdeburg

Saxony-Anhalt’s Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff presented a grant of 100,000 euros in state funds for the Saxony-Anhalt Jewish Culture Days in Magdeburg.

“It is important that we are aware of the tradition and the present of Jewish life in Saxony-Anhalt,” Haseloff said at a meeting with the State Association of Jewish Communities in Saxony-Anhalt in Magdeburg.

“The Jewish religious community is an integral part of social life in Saxony-Anhalt,” Haseloff continued. The Jewish Culture Days made this visible. With them, more publicity and more presence for the Jewish heritage will be created in Saxony-Anhalt.

he Jewish Culture Days 2023 will open on October 15 and end on December 7. They have been held every two years since 2021. Among other things, tours on Jewish life, concerts with local artists, culinary offers and themed tours are planned.

A new synagogue is currently being built in Magdeburg. The cornerstone was laid in September last year. The opening is planned for December 10 of this year. The previous building was devastated during the Kristallnacht on November 9, 1938 and later demolished
