Düsseldorf rename streets that honored antisemitic people

Eleven streets who honored figures related to colonialism, militarism, Nazism and antisemitism in Düsseldorf are to be given new names with the participation of civil society

The state capital of Düsseldorf is interested in ensuring that interested citizens, affected residents, companies, institutions, associations, societies or interest groups can inform themselves comprehensively about the project and the process of renaming the historically burdened street names and get involved accordingly.

The renaming of the eleven historically burdened street names Hans-Christoph-Seebohm-Straße, Heinz-Ingenstau-Straße, Leutweinstraße, Lüderitzstraße, Petersstraße, Pfitznerstraße, Porschestraße, Schlieffenstraße, Wilhelm-Schmidtbonn-Straße, Wissmannstraße and Woermannstraße as well as the rededication of Münchhausenweg was decided by the council of the state capital Düsseldorf in its meeting on 16 September 2021.
