Dresden gets a memorial for the Jewish community

The Dresden city council decided to create a memorial for its Jewish community in the Old Train station, where deportation trains brought more than 200 Jews to ghettos, concentration and extermination camps.

However, an exact concept still has to be checked. In addition, Mayor Dirk Hilbert is to negotiate a permanent lease for the memorial site. The city currently does not own any part of the large area at the old Leipzig train station.

So far, only a commemorative plaque at the nearby Neustadt train station commemorates the deportations from Dresden.
