Sophie Elizeon appointed as new DILCRAH head

Sophie Elizeon has been appointed as head of the French Interministerial Delegation for the fight against racism, antisemitism and anti-LGBT hatred (DILCRAH).

Ms. Elizeon, the current Prefect of the Aude department takes over from Frédéric Potier, DILCRAH head since May 2017, who announced his departure last January.

“I will lead this fight for fraternity with determination,” said Ms. Elizeon on Twitter. The Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France (CRIF), the country’s EJC affiliate, congratulated her on her nomination and wishes her much success in her new mission.

Originally from Reunion, Sophie Elizeon was Prefect of the Territoire de Belfort department and then of the Aude. She has also worked on the issue of discrimination in previous positions, notably as Interministerial Delegate for Equal Opportunities for French Overseas Territories from 2012 to 2015, and as Regional Delegate for Women’s Rights and Equality between Women and Men in Reunion Island between 2007 and 2012.

“Convictions, rigor, a taste for the field: Our new Dilcrah has all the assets to succeed in this new and delicate mission,” Frédéric Potier commented.
