Pro-Palestinian activist to face trial in Paris for calls to “Intifada”

Elias d’Imzalène is set to appear in court in Paris, facing charges of public incitement to hatred. This follows his call to “lead the intifada” in France during a demonstration held in the capital.

The founder of the media outlet “Islam et Info,” d’Imzalène was arrested at the Brigade for the Suppression of Crimes against Persons (BRDP).

Following a hearing, he was placed under judicial supervision by a judge and will be tried for “public incitement to hatred or violence on the grounds of origin, ethnicity, nation, race, or religion.”

The investigation was launched after a report from former Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.

During a pro-Palestinian rally at Place de la Nation in Paris, d’Imzalène urged participants to “lead the intifada in Paris, in our suburbs, in our neighbourhoods” to secure the “liberation of Jerusalem,” as shown in a video shared on social media.

Police Prefect Laurent Nuñez has formally requested that those who organised the gathering explain the remarks made during the demonstration.

D’Imzalène has garnered support from various organisations, including the Parti des Indigènes and the NPA. LFI MP Ersilia Soudais stated on X that she visited him at the BRDP during his custody, expressing her “full support” for him in a video message.
