Pro-Palestinian activist detained in Nice for antisemitic remarks and Hamas glorification

The founder of the organisation Nice in Gaza has been imprisoned on serious charges, including promoting terrorism and inciting hatred. She came under investigation following a series of controversial social media posts.

The investigation was triggered by posts shared by the accused on X (formerly Twitter), where she questioned the classification of Hamas as a terrorist organisation and engaged in antisemitic rhetoric. Some of her most contentious posts included references to the destruction of Israel and remarks related to the Holocaust.

At her court appearance in Nice, the accused requested more time to prepare her defence. Despite having no prior criminal record and being involved in humanitarian work, the court ordered her to remain in custody, citing concerns about a risk of reoffending, especially with the upcoming anniversary of October 7th.
