French Jewish Community mobilised by Jérémy Cohen’s case

On Monday April 4, the world discovered with horror the terrible video of the attack suffered by Jérémy Cohen. This video was widely distributed, despite the expressed wishes of the young man’s family.

The President of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France (CRIF) Francis Kalifat immediately expressed his emotion and full solidarity with the family of Jérémy Cohen.

Kalifat underlined the importance of not neglecting any leads during the ongoing investigation.

The President of CRIF then spoke with one of the victim’s brothers. He regretted that the video of the violent attack was thus broadcast on social networks. He then assured him that the CRIF would do their best to have it removed.

CRIF therefore contacted Meta to report the content posted on Facebook and to request the removal of the video from the platform as soon as possible. The moderators reacted quickly and deleted the video.
