French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin has called for increased security around Jewish places of worship during Jewish holidays.
In a message sent to law enforcement officials, the minister indicated: “the very high level of the terrorist threat which continues to weigh on our country, as well as the persistence of tensions at the international level, require the maintenance of extreme vigilance.”
Gérald Darmanin has called for a “limit on the number of accesses to places of worship”, “visual checks of incoming traffic to detect suspicious individuals” and “particular attention paid to vehicles parked near places of assembly or worship”.
The minister also called for an increased police presence during the arrival and departure of worshippers at the various religious gatherings and services in the country.
