French Interior Minister calls for maximum police presence in front of synagogues

French interior minister Gérald Darmanin asked prefects on to ensure “a maximum police presence” in front of synagogues ahead of the High Holidays

Because of the “very high level of the terrorist threat”, the interior minister invited prefects to take measures to “reinforce the security of places of Jewish gatherings and worship”. “Thank you for ensuring a maximum physical police presence in front of places of worship,” he added, by hand, at the end of his letter.
