An armed man attempted to set fire to a synagogue in Rouen

A man armed who was attempting to set fire to a synagogue in Rouen, in northwestern France, was killed by the police, announced French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.

The police “intervened following a report of smoke near the synagogue,” stated a police source.

The man was armed with a knife and an iron bar; he approached the police officers who shot him, and the individual died.

“In Rouen, national police officers neutralized an armed individual early this morning who was evidently attempting to set fire to the city’s synagogue. I commend them for their responsiveness and courage,” wrote Mr. Darmanin on X.
