85% of French Jews believe that Antisemitism is widespread in France

The results of a survey on antisemitism published by IFOP (Institut français d’opinion publique) in January 2022 showcase that 64% of the French population, and 85% of French Jews, believe that antisemitism is a feeling that is widespread in France.

At the same time, 68% of French Jews declared that they have already been subjected to mockery and vexation and 20% claim to have been victims of physical aggression at least once in their life.

Attacks are reported to be on the rise when the person  wears a religious symbol.

According to the IFOP report, antisemitic prejudices are shared by a significant part of the French people.

30% of the interviewees believe that “Jews are richer than the average French person” and 37% think that Jews have too much power in the field of economy and finance.

One part of the population is much more likely to have antisemitic prejudices according to the survey: those who are over 65 years old.
