The Jewish Community of Estonia took part in a meaningful walk through Magasini Street Cemetery Park in Tallinn, once the site of the city’s historic Jewish cemetery.
The event brought together 42 participants, including students, teachers, historians, local researchers, members of the Estonian Parliament and Tallinn City Council, and NGO representatives.
Together, they explored this unique cultural heritage site, learning about its history, ongoing preservation efforts, and the importance of protecting such places through collaboration between civil society, local authorities, and citizens.
Organised as part of the EU-funded ReActMem project, the walk served as a reminder of the power of memory and the role of communities in preserving local heritage for future generations. Participants reflected on how such initiatives deepen awareness of shared history, highlight the value of collective remembrance, and foster a sense of responsibility for safeguarding cultural heritage.
