Two men are facing charges for financing terrorism after allegedly raising the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of euros for Hamas

Two men are facing charges in Denmark for financing terrorism, as they are suspected of having raised the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of euros for the Islamist organisation Hamas.

A 28-year-old man was arrested while a 59-year-old has already been in pre-trial custody for some time, the Copenhagen police announced on the platform X.

According to reports from the Ritzau news agency and broadcaster TV 2, citing the competent court in Frederiksberg, a municipality neighbouring Copenhagen, the two men allegedly collected almost 5.7 million Danish kroner for Hamas, which is classified as a terrorist organisation by the EU. This amount corresponds to more than €760,000.

The money was either transferred to Hamas via a network of associations in Denmark or abroad, or an attempt was made to transfer it. The men have denied the accusations, according to the reports.
