Three Israelis suffer alleged violent attack in Nicosia

Three Israeli citizens reportedly suffered a violent attack in old town Nicosia.

According to initial information, one of the three victims was wounded in the ear.

Two individuals have been transferred to the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department.

Israel’s ambassador to Cyprus, Oren Anolik, said he was “deeply shocked by the violent attack against Israeli citizens in Nicosia, targeted solely because of their visibly Jewish appearance.”

“Such antisemitic violence has no place in Cyprus,” he added.

Anolik thanked the Cyprus Police for the swift arrest of the suspects.

“Amid a worrying and untypical rise in antisemitic incidents in Cyprus, clear and firm condemnation by leaders across the country is essential,” he concluded.
