Sofia Synagogue defaced with antisemitic posters during Shabbat

The Jewish Organization in Bulgaria “Shalom” shared with great outrage and concern what happened the entrance of the Sofia synagogue.

At the conclusion Sabbath, individuals with masked faces placed obituaries glorifying Adolf Hitler and Nazism at the synagogue gates. This disturbing incident has caused concern and raised questions about the need for increased security and awareness within the community.

“We recall that the glorification of the national-socialist ideology and its leaders, who have committed one of the most violent crimes in history, is not just a crime, but an insult to all those Bulgarian citizens who have in the years and even today clearly expressed their position against racism and antisemitism” said Shalom in a Facebook post.
