Jewish Museum of Belgium receives Prize for Democracy and Human Rights

The Jewish Museum of Belgium has been awarded the 2020 Prize for Democracy and Human Rights by the Parliament of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, one of Belgium’s regional parliaments.

The regional parliament chose to recognise the Museum’s “work in favour of remembrance and for promoting values of openness for a peaceful and constructive interfaith dialogue”.

The Jewish Museum of Belgium, located in Brussels, was the target of a terrorist attack, which took the lives of four people.

The annual Democracy and Human Rights Prize has been awarded since 2015. Endowed with 10,000 euros, it aims to highlight a specific achievement within the framework of the World Organisation of the Francophonie and the values it defends: peace, democracy and human rights.
