Belgian parliament backs inquiry into role of national railways in Holocaust deportations

Belgium’s parliament adopted a resolution calling on the government to launch an independent inquiry into the role of the national railway company (NMBS-SNCB) in the deportations of Jews and Roma to Auschwitz during the Holocaust.

Twenty-eight rail convoys left from Mechelen in the centre of country carrying more than 25,000 Jews and 351 Roma to the Nazi death camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
