Belgian economic journal L’Echo published a story about several NGOs with links to radical Islamic movements in the country including Hamas.
Among them is the EUPAC, whose CEO, Majed al-Zeer, and other members are suspected of having ties to the Hamas terrorist group, as reported by Het Laatste Nieuws based on an investigation by The Times.
According to the Belgian Official Gazette, EUPAC, an ASBL established in 2022, is dedicated to sports and cultural activities related to Morocco. On its website, it presents itself as the “European Palestinian Council for Political Relations.” Its leader, Majed al-Zeer, is allegedly one of the European officials of the Hamas terrorist group, according to German intelligence services.
Majed al-Zeer, 61 years old, founded the Palestinian Return Center, advocating for the reconquest of Palestine, implying the end of the State of Israel. On social media, he characterizes the Hamas massacre on October 7 as an act of self-defense. During this attack, more than 1,200 people were killed, and 240 were taken hostage.
NGO Monitor, an Israeli research institute, reports that two other NGOs, Al-Haq and Bisan, established as ASBLs in 2022, are listed as terrorist organizations by the Israeli National Bureau for Counter-Terrorism Financing. Israeli authorities claim they belong to the network of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (FPLP), classified as a terrorist group by the EU, the United States, and Japan.
