Belgian Jews welcome beginning of criminal trial proceedings against Jewish museum terrorists

The Coordinating Committee of Belgian Jewish Organisations (CCOJB), the country’s EJC affiliate, has welcomed the start of criminal trial proceedings at the Belgian Court of Assize against Mehdi Nemmouche and Nacer Bendrer, suspects in the terror attack at the Jewish Museum in Brussels in 2014.

CCOJB President Yohan Benizri said: “This trial is of course important for the Jewish community, but also for the whole of civil society. The terrorism which first hits Jewish targets and later all our fellow citizens must be severely punished. At this stage, we are studying the case with our lawyer, Mr. Hirsch, and preparing for the criminal proceeedings.”
