Tribute to former chairman of the WJC French Section, French Senator Michel Dreyfus-Schmidt

The European Jewish Congress is very saddened to announce the untimely death of former chairman of the WJC French Section, French Senator Michel Dreyfus-Schmidt, at the age of 76.

Senator Dreyfus-Schmidt has represented the Territory of Belfort in the French Senate since 1980 and was vice president of the Senate from 1986 to 1988.

Following in the footsteps of his father Pierre, the Senator demonstrated a passionate commitment and devotion to the renaissance of Jewish life in France, as a leader of the French Section of the WJC and one of the founders of Judaism and the French speaking-world. His passing will be mourned by the many lives he touched.

The European Jewish Congress extends its heartfelt condolences to the family.
