EJC commends and applauds US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities

(Brussels, June 23, 2025)– Iran’s development of nuclear weapons represents a direct threat to Israel and Europe.

Following Israel’s strikes on Iranian military targets and upon those in the Iranian regime responsible for the development of nuclear weapons, we commend and applaud the United States’ strike on the direct locations of these weapons bases.

The continued ballistic missile attacks and devastation of Israeli population centres are an important reminder of the threat Iran would pose if it were in possession of nuclear warheads.

Iran has never left any doubt of its ultimate goal to wipe the State of Israel off the map.

Sadly, the world has stood by for decades as Iran has developed its nuclear technology systems. As it stood on the brink of producing actual nuclear weapons, there was no choice but to act immediately.

The decision of the United States to bomb these facilities is historic, timely, and a major contribution to the security of the world by preventing the grave threat Iran’s nuclear ambitions pose to regional and global stability.

The European Jewish Congress stands with the people of Israel as they face these constant bombardments and send our deep condolences to those who have lost their lives and send our best wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attacks.

This conflict, begun by Iran’s proxy, Hamas, with the brutal massacre of Israelis on October 7, 2023, cannot end until all hostages are returned and Hamas removed from Gaza.
