The European Jewish Congress expresses its horror at the brutal antisemitic attack that struck a synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year, leaving two people dead and three others seriously injured.
“We appreciate the efforts already made by the authorities to protect Jewish life, but this tragedy demonstrates that far more must be done. Strong condemnations are urgently required from governments against the ideology of hate and incitement that fuels terror and endangers all of society,” said EJC President Moshe Kantor.
The European Jewish Congress extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to the Jewish community of Manchester. We stand in full solidarity with the community at this profoundly difficult time and call for urgent action to ensure the safety and security of Jewish communities across the United Kingdom.
