EJC saddened by the death of Cardinal Lustiger

The European Jewish Congress (EJC) has learned with profound sadness the death of Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, whose destiny elevated him to the highest offices in the Catholic hierarchy.

“The world has lost a great human conscience with the death of Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger” declared EJC President Moshe Kantor.
Man of faith, of conviction and memory, Cardinal Lustiger bore values that enriched his thought and actions and marked profoundly inter-religious dialogue. He contributed significantly to the European Encounters Between Catholics and Jews, initiated by the European Jewish Congress.

EJC welcomes European Parliament resolution calling for extended sanctions against Iran

“The centrality of Iran in the destabilisation of the whole of the Middle East is evident to all and we welcome the Parliament’s resolution noting this fact. The time has come for total exclusion of the Islamic Republic from the international arena and targeted sanctions” said EJC President Dr Ariel Muzicant.
