EJC deplores State antisemitism in Belarus

The European Jewish Congress deplores the recent defamatory statements by the Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko that Jews “don’t care” for the places they live in, and are responsible for neglect in both Belarus and in Israel.

“We are disturbed by what appears to be state antisemitism in Belarus” declared members of the EJC Executive.

The EJC also welcomes the strong statement from the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), René van der Linden, condemning the Belarussian President’s antisemitic remarks.

The EJC also recalls that President Lukashenko is considered officially persona non grata by the European Union.

EJC stands with EU Coordinator on combating antisemitism Katharina von Schnurbein and condemns unfounded campaign against her

In a time of rising antisemitism across Europe, especially since October 7th, when many Jews feel increasingly afraid and vulnerable, we must be able to count on leaders like Katharina von Schnurbein. We call for continued support for her work and reject any attempt to discredit her or weaken the fight against antisemitism in Europe.
