EJC appoints special envoy for central and Eastern Europe

The European Jewish Congress (EJC) appointed Evgeny Chervonenko as its special envoy for Central and Eastern Europe on July 30 during the EJC Executive Committee’s first meeting since the election of Moshe Kantor as President of the EJC.

Ukrainian Governor Chervonenko, a renowned public figure in Eastern Europe, has held top state offices in Ukraine.

Chervonenko was among the organizers of the Second International Holocaust Forum “Let My People Live!”, which took place in Kiev in September 2006, commemorating the Babi Yar massacre.

“I am convinced that Evgeny Chervonenko’s vast experience in the political and social spheres will bring new energy and strength to our efforts to preserve memory, promote tolerance and combat xenophobia on a pan-European level” declared Moshe Kantor, President of the EJC.
