European Jewish Congress Executive Vice-President Raya Kalenova spoke at the 55th anniversary of the Coordinating Committee of Belgian Jewish Organisations (CCOJB).
In her speech, she praised the remarkable work carried out by the CCOJB under the leadership of its President, Yves Oschinsky. She expressed her gratitude to the political representatives who delivered powerful messages in support of the Jewish community and welcomed the commitments made during the evening as a sign of hope for a new era for Belgian Jewish citizens. Raya particularly thanked the President of the Mouvement Réformateur, Georges-Louis Bouchez, for his moral clarity and longstanding support, especially during recent times when Belgian Jews felt particularly isolated.
Distinguished speakers addressed the audience at the dinner, including CCOJB President Yves Oschinsky, who clearly articulated the concerns of the Jewish community in Belgium and emphasised the urgent need for a permanent coordinator to develop a national strategy to combat antisemitism, in line with European requirements.
National representatives congratulated the CCOJB and reaffirmed their commitment to combating antisemitism and safeguarding the Belgian Jewish community. Among those who spoke were Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, Mouvement Réformateur President Georges-Louis Bouchez, DéFI President Sophie Rohonyi, Belgian Minister for Mobility Jean-Luc Crucke, Belgian comedian Sam Touzani, and many others.
