European Jewish Congress Director of European Affairs Ariella Woitchik addressed participants of the European Coalition for Israel (ECI) Young Leaders Academy at the European Parliament.
Ms Woitchik presented the work of the European Jewish Congress as the official umbrella representative of Jewish communities throughout Europe, and provided an overview of the ongoing challenges facing European Jews amid the concerning rise of antisemitism following the October 7 attacks, further exacerbated since the beginning of the war against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
She highlighted the urgent need for strengthened cooperation between European institutions, national authorities, and civil society to effectively combat antisemitism and ensure the safety and continuity of Jewish life across the continent.
This is the second time that the EJC Director of European Affairs has participated in the ECI Young Leaders Academy, an initiative that brings together emerging leaders from across Europe who are committed to fighting antisemitism and supporting the security of the State of Israel. The programme provides participants with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of European politics and Israel from legal, historical, and faith perspectives.
She concluded by expressing the deep gratitude of Europe’s Jewish communities for the support provided by committed allies such as the ECI and its Young Leaders Academy.
The audience during Ms Woitchik’s address included members of the Young Leaders Academy, representatives of the European Coalition for Israel, as well as Members of National Parliament (MPs).
