EJC attends Second Working Group on the implementation of the EU strategy on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life

EJC Executive Vice-President and CEO Raya Kalenova and EJC Director of European Affairs Ariella Woitchik attended the second meeting of the European Commission working group on the implementation of the EU strategy on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, held in Brussels.

Among issues discussed at the Working Group was the need to ensure the development of national strategies against antisemitism in order to achieve the full and comprehensive implementation of the EU strategy by all the member states.

Furthermore, the spread of antisemitic narratives and disinformation in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine was discussed.

Participants also exchanged views on the security needs of the European Jewish communities and the importance of developing a common methodology to record antisemitic incidents.

Ophir Revach, CEO of the Security and Crisis Center (SACC) by the EJC, was part of the panel discussion on the security needs of Jewish communities across the continent.

The meeting brought together representatives of national Jewish communities, international and civil society organisations, national ministries, members of the European Parliament and high-level officers of the European Institutions.
