The highest award of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia, the Fiddler on the Roof, has been attributed to Dr. Moshe Kantor for his philanthropic activities and especially for making possible this year’s March of the Living at Auschwitz-Birkenau. Dr. Kantor, who is president of the European Jewish Congress, was named philanthropist of the year.

The Fiddler on the Roof award was established by the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia in 2002 to recognise outstanding personalities who make significant contributions to the development of cultural and social life in the country irrespective of their ethnicity and faith.

The sixteenth Fiddler on the Roof award ceremony was held in Moscow on December 17, 2017.
