Israel bars entry to French and EU politicians over support for BDS

Israel has refused to grant visitor visas to seven French and European Union politicians who in the past have supported the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. All of the politicians are French and include mayors and Members of the European Parliament. They are part of a larger delegation of 20 European dignitaries scheduled to come to Israel and the Palestinian territories from November 19 to 23.

Rise in Russian and Turkish aliyah as Western European figures fall

Bucking a slump in Western immigration to Israel, the number of new arrivals from Russia has increased in 2017 and more than doubled from Turkey. In total, the 23,415 immigrants who have come to Israel from January 1 to September 30 constituted a two percent increase over the corresponding period last year, an interim report by the Jewish Agency for Israel showed.
