Jewish monument in Thessaloniki vandalized again

A monument on the campus of Thessaloniki’s Aristotle University (AUT), which commemorates a Jewish cemetery destroyed by the Nazis in 1942, was targeted again by vandals. The perpetrators sprayed a red swastika on the central marble commemorative plaque that symbolizes the cemetery.

Greece’s health minister denounced his far-right father for a Nazi salute made during the ongoing appeal trial of neo-Nazi group Golden Dawn. His father — who is defending a jailed ex-Golden Dawn Eurodeputy in the trial — made the gesture during the testimony of the mother of Pavlos Fyssas, an anti-fascist rapper murdered by a Golden Dawn member in 2013.
