EJC organises event marking 80th anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials

The European Jewish Congress partnered with the European Commission and the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU in organising the conference ‘Remembering the Past, Shaping the Future’, which included the testimony of Holocaust survivor Alfred Garwood.

EJC Executive Vice-President Raya Kalenova addressed the hundreds of participants at the event, which included distinguished policymakers, diplomats, leaders of Jewish communities from across the world, and Holocaust survivors, emphasising the need for the stories of the millions murdered under the Nazi regime to continue to be told for generations to come.

EJC Executive Vice-President Raya Kalenova spoke on behalf of European Jewish communities and stated that, 80 years after the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, “despite the Nazis’ attempt to erase Jewish life from history, we are still here. European Jewish communities, though diminished, remain resilient and determined to preserve their heritage and identity for future generations.”

At an event organised by the European Jewish Congress in Brussels, Members of the European Parliament, prominent Belgian politicians, ambassadors and diplomatic representatives, senior EU officials, and leaders of the Jewish community gathered to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and honour the memory of the victims of the Shoah amid rising antisemitism in Europe.

At an event organised by the European Jewish Congress in Brussels, over 300 people, including Members of the European Parliament, senior EU officials, ambassadors, representatives of the Jewish community and other minority groups, gathered to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The European Jewish Congress and B’nai B’rith International co-organized a conference to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

At an event organised by the EJC, over 400 people, including ambassadors, MEPS from across the political spectrum, senior EU officials and civil society leaders, gathered to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day, pledge to fight antisemitism and honour the memory of Simone Veil.

The European Jewish Congress (EJC) partnered with the European Commission, the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU, and the Swedish Presidency of IHRA in the organisation of a Holocaust Remembrance Conference titled “Remembering the past, Shaping the Future” that took place in Brussels on January 23rd 2023 on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

EJC President Dr. Moshe Kantor called on leaders, decision-makers and opinion-shapers around the world to rethink the way antisemitism is fought, and to reorientate policy towards younger generations.

During a joint International Holocaust Remembrance Day event, co-hosted with the European Commission, EJC President Dr. Moshe Kantor called on the member states of the European Union to ensure that Holocaust survivors have access to a Covid-19 vaccine as soon as possible.

The President of the World Holocaust Forum Foundation and the European Jewish Congress, Dr. Moshe Kantor addressed 48 world leaders at the Fifth World Holocaust Forum. The historic event, titled “Remembering the Holocaust, Fighting Antisemitism,” was organised by the World Holocaust Forum Foundation in cooperation with Yad Vashem, under the auspices of the President of the State of Israel.
