EJC and WGAS organise high-level conference in the European Parliament on the rise of extremism, Islamism, and antisemitism in Europe

Hosted by WGAS Vice-Chair MEP Lukas Mandl, the event featured speakers such as Imam Hassen Chalghoumi, Rosny-sous-Bois Council Member Shannon Seban, and Belgian Senator Viviane Teitelbaum. The closing remarks were given by Katharina von Schnurbein, European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life.

EJC Meets With Bulgarian and Greek Officials to Discuss Far-Right Movements

Taking immediate action on two worrying developments concerning the far-right in Europe, the European Jewish Congress held separate meetings with the Ambassadors of Greece and Bulgaria to the European Union, in Brussels, July 25th.

Jewish Senator Elected in Tunisia – EJC President in Tunisia

EJC President Pierre Besnainou met with Tunisian government officials and local Jewish leaders to congratulate them on the election of the head of the Tunisian Jewish Community Roger Bismuth to the new Tunisian Senate, in Tunis on Friday, 8th of July.

EJC Meets EU Commissioner for External Relations

The President of the European Jewish Congress Pierre Besnainou met in Brussels with Dr. Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Union Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, on July 7th to address several important points on the EJC agenda.

European Jewry elects a new President

On Sunday, June 26th, the General Assembly of the European Jewish Congress (EJC) convened in Paris with the participation of 130 delegates, representing 36 Jewish communities in Europe.
