EJC and WGAS organise high-level conference in the European Parliament on the rise of extremism, Islamism, and antisemitism in Europe

Hosted by WGAS Vice-Chair MEP Lukas Mandl, the event featured speakers such as Imam Hassen Chalghoumi, Rosny-sous-Bois Council Member Shannon Seban, and Belgian Senator Viviane Teitelbaum. The closing remarks were given by Katharina von Schnurbein, European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life.

EJC President Moshe Kantor attends Israel’s 60th anniversary in Moscow synagogue

Israeli President Shimon Peres thanked Russian Jews for their contribution to the creation and development of this country. In turn, Moshe Kantor, President of the Russian and European Jewish Congresses, called on Jews to remember that the creation of the State of Israel “was the compensation paid by humanity for tolerating the Holocaust.”

The European Jewish Congress leadership, headed by EJC President Moshe Kantor, traveled to Macedonia on May 5th and 6th as part of the organization's recent efforts to strengthen smaller Jewish communities across the continent.

EJC, EU heads to meet in Slovenia

The heads of the European Jewish Congress and European Union will discuss the Iranian nuclear threat and anti-Semitism. Moshe Kantor, the EJC president, will meet Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa, the rotating head of the European Union, Tuesday and Wednesday in the Slovenian capital of Ljublijana along with other members of the prime minister's cabinet.

EJC meets Greek President and other high-level leadership

A series of high-level meetings were held in Greece on February 4, 2008. The meetings took place within the framework of the National Remembrance Day for Greek Jewish Martyrs of the Holocaust. EJC President Moshe Kantor, Secretary General Serge Cwajgenbaum and President of the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece Moise Constantinis met with Greek President H.E. Karolos Papoulias.
